Street Corner Dedicated to Captain "Rocky" Robinson in NYC Ceremony
Staff Report / nyclocal.org
Captain James "Rocky" Robinson was honored with a street corner dedication ceremony at Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Greene Avenue in New York City. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Eric Adams, Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields, Police Commissioner Edward Caban, elected officials, along with family, friends, and community members.
Robinson founded the Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps (BSVAC) in 1988 due to the extended response times for city ambulances in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood. He was committed to helping his community and trained numerous residents in life-saving techniques.
Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields praised Robinson's dedication to mentoring and educating the youth in the community, highlighting the significant impact Robinson had on individuals like himself who benefitted from his guidance and mentorship.
