On Friday, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) held a promotion ceremony at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island, where 70 members were elevated to new ranks.

Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker addressed the group, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with leadership in the fire department. He urged the newly promoted members to lead with patience and pragmatism, while also teaching and mentoring newer personnel.

Acting Chief of Department John Esposito highlighted the significant impact that firefighters can have on the lives of New Yorkers during emergency calls. He expressed his hopes that their interactions would reflect respect, professionalism, and competence.

The newly promoted individuals include Captains, Lieutenants, Supervising Fire Marshals, and Fire Marshals, who will be assigned to units throughout the city.
