Brandon Inahuazo: Committed to Pediatric Oncology Patients' Care

Staff Report / nyclocal.org

Brandon Inahuazo, a student at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, is spending his summer working with the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Unit at NewYork Presbyterian’s Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in Washington Heights. This is his first time working with children in a healthcare setting, and he is excited to learn how to have natural and meaningful conversations with the young patients and their families. Brandon finds it a privilege to work with these children and is inspired by the dedicated nurses who advocate for the patients and their families to ensure they receive the best care.

Brandon, a Flynn Foundation fellow, recently presented a research project titled “Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Pediatric Oncology Patients” to nurses at Weill Cornell Medical Center, highlighting his commitment to improving care for pediatric oncology patients. Brandon appreciates the teamwork involved in treating childhood cancer, acknowledging that while it requires a team of providers, nurses are the ones who are with the patients around the clock and truly understand their needs.

Through his internship experience, Brandon is gaining valuable insights into providing care for pediatric oncology patients and is dedicated to making a positive impact on their lives.
