Scottsdale City promotes emergency preparedness during September.

Staff Report / Scottsdalelocal.org

The City of Scottsdale is recognizing National Preparedness Month in September, encouraging residents to be ready for potential emergencies. The Street Operations division is implementing a 24/7 on-call program to address storm-related damage on city streets. The team, along with Parks and Recreation and Facilities Management, works together to clear roads of trees and debris during emergencies. It's essential for everyone to abide by road closures and not enter barricaded areas for storm clean-up to ensure safety. Residents are advised to discover alternatives to sandbags for flood control, like flood diversion tubes, transportable flood fence barriers, and water absorbent cushions. Additionally, when disposing of brush and bulk items for collection, it's important to place materials away from meters, electrical boxes, and lighting to prevent damage by city equipment. This monthly service offers a convenient solution for items that do not fit in regular curbside containers.
