FDNY Swears in 87 New Emergency Medical Technicians

On Tuesday, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) welcomed 87 Probationary Emergency Medical Technicians during a ceremony in Brooklyn.

Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker addressed the new recruits, emphasizing the importance of their role in the community. He encouraged them to treat every patient with kindness and respect, continue learning, and wear their uniforms with pride. "The work you do makes our city safer," he said.

Acting Chief of Department John Esposito highlighted the significant responsibilities of EMS members. He stated that they will be the first responders that people rely on when they call 911, with the opportunity to save lives and provide comfort in difficult situations.

Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields spoke about the FDNY family culture, stating that the new recruits are now part of this family. He noted the dedication required of EMS personnel, describing them as the individuals who bravely respond to emergencies while embodying calm and professionalism.
