Greeley Prepares for Winter Snow and Ice Management

Staff Report / Greeleylocal.org

As winter approaches, the City of Greeley is reminding residents about snow routes and snow and ice clearing processes for the upcoming season. The city is prepared to ensure that streets remain safe and passable.

Street clearing will follow a priority system:

1. Major roads that provide access to hospitals, fire and police stations, schools, and high-traffic areas will be cleared first.

2. Key local streets and those near healthcare facilities will be addressed next.

3. Local and neighborhood streets will be cleared as needed when forecasted.

City staff will also be working to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and trails in city parks and natural areas, focusing on areas with heavy use, such as those close to schools and bus stops.

Residents are advised to look out for new parking signs in certain areas that indicate no parking during snowstorms to facilitate snow plowing.

Additionally, homeowners are reminded that they are responsible for clearing the sidewalks adjacent to their properties within 24 hours after the snow stops.

For more information about Greeley’s public space maintenance and snow removal standards, residents can visit the city’s website at https://greeleygov.com/services/public-space-maintenance.
