Herbert Akins Road Celebrates Veteran's Day Event

Herbert Akins Road Middle School in Apex, North Carolina, recently celebrated its first annual Veteran's Day Appreciation Event. The event took place during halftime at a football game, where the school honored students' family members who are veterans.
In the lead-up to the event, the school sold flags to raise funds for The Joel Fund, a local veterans organization. Students had the opportunity to personalize the flag sticks by writing labels to thank specific veterans, include personal messages, or express gratitude to all those who have served.
Prior to the football game, the flags were displayed to create a "field of flags" at the school.
