Jackie Robinson's Historic Game in Orlando, 1949

Staff Report / orlandolocal.org

In 1949, a significant baseball exhibition took place at Carter Street Park in Orlando, Florida. The game featured Jackie Robinson and his All-Stars competing against the Negro League’s Orlando All-Stars. This event occurred two years after Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Today, Carter Street Park is part of the John H. Jackson Neighborhood Center, which continues to celebrate the legacy of the game. The information was reported by Orlando Parks and Recreation and the Orlando Sentinel.
