**Apex Police Respond to Domestic Violence Incident**
Apex, North Carolina – On November 7th at approximately 8:15 PM, the Apex Police Department received a call regarding a domestic violence incident in the 3500 block of Old US 1 Highway.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had entered a vehicle with a suspected firearm. While approaching, officers heard a gunshot and saw the suspect retreat to a detached building on the property. To ensure everyone’s safety, officers evacuated the family from the home.
The Apex Police Crisis Advocacy Response Team (CART) was called to assist with negotiations. The suspect communicated with the team by phone and eventually exited the detached building unarmed.
The suspect is facing domestic charges and is being taken to Wake County Jail. The Apex Police Department thanked the Cary Police Department for their drone assistance, Wake County EMS for precautionary support, and the Town of Apex Fire Department for their help during the incident.
For safety reasons, Old US 1 Highway was temporarily closed but has since been reopened.
The Apex Police Department emphasizes their commitment to addressing domestic violence concerns and encourages anyone in need of assistance to contact them at 919-362-8661 or reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
Interim Police Chief Materasso stated, “We take all reports of domestic violence very seriously. Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our residents and helping anyone in need.”
