LA Unified Schools Hosts Community Support Initiative Event

Last Friday, Los Angeles Unified Schools hosted an event that brought together over 60 community-based organizations, business representatives, legal aid firms, and service providers. The purpose of the gathering was to discuss the initiative "LA Unified 2025: We Are One," which aims to enhance support within the Los Angeles Unified community.
Attendees included representatives from various organizations such as the Los Angeles County Business Federation, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, LA's BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program, Community Coalition, and Innercity Struggle. Other participating organizations were PIQE, Alliance for a Better Community, Central American Resource Center (CARECEN-LA), Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, and various Boys & Girls Clubs.
Additionally, the event included representatives from Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), LA84 Foundation, Latino Equality Alliance, Mi Centro, Los Angeles LGBT Center, One Justice, UNITE-LA, and YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. The Multilingual Multicultural Education Department at LAUSD and the Office of Student, Family, and Community Engagement also participated in the initiative.
Board members Scott Mark Schmerelson, Jackie Goldberg, and Nick Melvoin were present at the gathering, which underscored the importance of coordination and collaboration to support individuals within the LA Unified community.
