**Scottsdale Police Department Addresses Recent Threats to Schools**

Scottsdale, Arizona (September 16, 2024) – The Scottsdale Police Department is responding to a significant number of threats made against school campuses via social media. In the past week, local schools and law enforcement have received reports of over one hundred threats across the valley and Tucson areas, which have raised concerns among students, faculty, and parents.

Investigators from the Scottsdale Police Department are collaborating with School Resource Officers, staff from the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), and other law enforcement agencies to address these threats. The Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) is actively compiling the threats, noting that many contain similar language and images but with varying school names.

These threats have affected schools in Scottsdale, causing serious concern within the community. However, the Scottsdale Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of students and faculty. The department takes each threat seriously, conducting immediate investigations to assess their validity. Despite the alarming number of threats reported this school year, none have been validated for schools in Scottsdale thus far. Many of the threats appear to be originating from outside of the local area, including beyond Arizona.

The Scottsdale PD continues to work closely with SUSD to implement necessary security measures during these investigations.
